I recently found this very interesting, concise, and serious analysis of the fascinating topic of E cigarettes.

E cigarettes are an inherently fascinating product, because they are something new and electronic that the human mind has created for an ancient, famous product that has been around for thousands of years in different forms.  When the Ccavemen first began chewing tobacco, and then the Indians and other tribes began smoking it, who would ever have believed that w would some day see an electronic machine used to mimic the traditional product known as tobacco?  Ecigarettes have now been on the market for some time; they have reached the point at which it is necessary to examine their success in that market, to see how they are doing and what their prospects are.  This article does exactly that: it reviews the latest surveys and statistics to see how likely it is that E cigarettes will survive and prosper.  Every retailer must have this information.

This little article concisely provides facts and figures in a way that anyone who reads it can use them.

E-Cigarettes Important New Niche Category: Survey

Wells Fargo reports retailer confidence in e-cigs, concern that regs, taxes will slow down growth

NEW YORK — “I believe that e-cigarettes are a viable category and will continue to grow with the major brands rising to the top … with Lorillard purchasing blu, some validity has been added to the category.” This was the response of just one of the tobacco retailers and wholesalers interviewed for Wells Fargo Securities’ “Tobacco Talk” survey, according to analyst Bonnie Herzog, but the sentiment was shared by many.

While previous “Tobacco Talk” surveys had also included positive attitudes towards the growing category, Lorillard’s acquisition of blu ecigs has further convinced many that e-cigarettes are here to stay.

The May 17, 2012, survey results had 73.1% of the respondents believing that e-cigarettes are not simply a fad, but a lasting “trend,” similar to the energy drink phenomenon.

There’s good reason for such enthusiasm: one retailer described an impressive 193% increase in sales from the first week to the second week of offering NJoy e-cigarettes at its stores.

Not all retailers have seen such success, but the category is continuing to prove its worth with 2.5 million e-cigarette users, according to industry group Tobacco Vapor Electronic Cigarette Association, and an estimated $300 million in revenue currently at retail, and the possibility of increasing that number to $1 billion in the future, according to Lorillard’s CEO Murray Kessler.

We must of course know what those people think who are a bit less positive about it all – it is so early in the E cigarette game that they might turn out to be right after all.

Other respondents were more cautious about the ability of the e-cigarette industry to continue such impressive growth, citing new product boom, the possibility of further U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and the addition of state and federal excise taxes as obstacles to the category.

One respondent went so far as to describe e-cigarettes as an “extreme liability risk,” noting the lack of regulation in both the United States and in China, where most of the products are manufactured.

Besides regulation and taxation, just how much space e-cigarettes will take from cigarettes and OTP has yet to be determined; 65% of survey respondents said e-cigarettes are not currently encroaching on traditional tobacco products, as most e-cig companies encourage self-service counter displays. As the category grows, however, many believe e-cigarettes will be required to move elsewhere. While some respondents predicted “other tobacco products” (OTP) as the ultimate landing spot for e-cigarettes, others see cigars as the natural victims of e-cigs moving off the counter, as cigar shelving can typically be adjusted to accommodate a variety of sizes.

Ultimately, the Wells Fargo analysts agreed with the majority of respondents that e-cigarettes are more than just a fad, but are also expecting increased regulation and taxation to slow down enthusiasm.

Or, as one respondent put it, e-cigarettes “are a real opportunity, but not quite up to the hype.” Read the full story on E Cigarettes Important New Niche

How will it turn out for retailers who stock E cigaretes?  My own experience has been neither as good as the most enthusiastic, nor as bad as the unhappiest.  I look forward to reading respnses from other readers, and I shall most certainly share mine with you.  We can all help each other out with this new product, in terms of finding ways to display e cigarettes and sell them.

Another ban on electronic cigarettes?

All These Bans On Electronic Cigarettes Makes You Think…

From Cohasset Massachusetts comes the latest controversy on electronic cigarettes. Whats the big deal ban after ban it seems the electronic cigarette is taking a serious beating, but meantime one of the biggest cigarettte companies have spent $130 million dollars in cash on Blu Cigs read more here about Lorilards purchase Here

Below is the article about the ban in cohasset, I thought It was preetty interesting and downrite ridiculous!

Cohasset to consider ban on electronic cigarettes

COHASSET — Electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, do not contain tobacco, tar, or any of the harmful chemicals packed into traditional cigarettes. But these modern-day nicotine delivery devices may soon be outlawed in certain parts of Cohasset.

The town’s board of health will ask town meeting voters on May 12 to amend the community’s smoking bylaws to ban the use of e-cigarettes in all locations where traditional cigarettes are not allowed. This includes business offices, restaurants, athletic fields, bars, train stations and other spaces where crowds typically gather.

“It’s a new-make tobacco product,” Cohasset health inspector Tara Tradd said of e-cigarettes.

If voters approve the new by-law, Cohasset would become the first South Shore town to implement the ban on e-cigarettes, according to the non-profit Massachusetts Municipal Association. Nineteen cities and towns in the state, including Boston, have adopted the ban by inserting e-cigarettes into their respective anti-smoking laws.

In recent years, state and federal health officials have raised concerns about the unknown effects of e-cigarettes. Tradd said scientists haven’t researched the products, invented in 2003, thoroughly enough to conclude whether they are harmful.

Many critics of e-cigarettes also claim the devices can lead non-smokers, including children, to smoke traditional cigarettes. Although there are nicotine-free e-cigarettes, many people use the devices to get their nicotine fix without having to inhale the chemicals from traditional cigarettes.

Tighter Controls Over E Cigarette Needed

Do we really need tighter control over e cigarettes

With more an more brands of e cigarettes coming onto the market “experts” are saynig there needs to be more studies on the e cigarette.

The e cigarette seems to be doing a great job helping people to stop smoking, everyday we hear from people who have used the electronic cigarette to stop smoking – its a little bit like choosing a brand of cigarettes for real, you want one that tastes right and smokes well and has the right amount of nicotine for you.

Sometimes it takes ages till you find the right brand for you and sometimes you never find it, so we need many different electronic cigarette brands to choose from as everyone has a different taste and budget.

Experts demand tighter controls on e-cigarettes

HEALTH experts are demanding tighter controls on electronic cigarettes amid fears customers could be exposed to poisonous chemicals.

The nicotine vapour inhaler devices are not subject regulation, and fears are growing that people could be subjected to “unclean” and “unsafe” products.

The devices hit the headlines earlier this year when it emerged Standard Life had banned its employees from smoking e-cigs at their desks.

E cigs

ASH Scotland warned evidence on e-cigs was “limited”.

Many of the e-cigs brands readily available in the UK are imported without control and inspection from other countries, including China.

E-cigs do not contain tobacco and therefore are not regulated by Tobacco Product Regulations, they are also not classed as medical devices so can not be regulated in the same way as other nicotine replacement products.

The devices, which can be charged through a computer USB port, were invented by a Chinese pharmacist in 2004.

Prof John Britton, chair of the Royal College of Physicians Tobacco Advisory Group, said that regulating e-cigarettes would ensure a “guaranteed standard” for consumers was met.

He said: “Electronic cigarettes have the potential to save thousands of lives, but the fact that they are unregulated is bad as it leaves people open to using unclean and unsafe products.

“Electronic cigarettes can not be seen as being as safe as other regulated nicotine replacement therapies which meet pharmaceutical standards, these products are tested and have additives in them that we know to be safe – e-cigarettes don’t have this.

“The concept of nicotine replacement is powerful and good, but e-cigarettes are really testing this system – they are new and they are unregulated. Regulation would be useful and it would be nice to clean up the loopholes.

“At the moment electronic cigarettes may list the contents on the side of the packet, but there is no way of proving that this is the true content as there is no regulation.

“Electronic cigarettes are probably positive and if everyone switched to e-cigarettes it could potentially save millions of lives, but regulation would certainly be useful at this time,” he added.

A lack of regulation has led several countries, including Canada, Australia, and Singapore to ban the products because of fears over possible side-effects. Read more about Experts demand tighter controls on e-cigarettes...

I think that e cigarette should be made available on health systems for free, the fact that govt are making such a big stink is sic and that fact that thousands of people around the world are using them to stop smoking is a positive element that should not be made hard to get.

Are E Cigarettes Safe Or Bad Like Tobacco?

If e cigarette smokers follow normal tobacco etiqutte what would happen?

Im not sure if this is really a moot point or not, but the fact of the matter is that there is no tobacco in e cigarettes and should obvioulsy not be classed as a tobacco product. It angers me to hear these ridiculous claims made by governements and “experts”, do these experts all smoke? are they trying to kick the habit? All these questions need to be answered if there is going to be a non biased ruling, especially where there are millions if not billions of tax dollars to be made from the regulation of these devices – you have to ask the question, what is this all really about.

Isnt it about saving lives and leading healthier lives? So whats wrong with the e cigarette?

The e cigarette or electronic cigarette is a great device that although we may not know the exact long terms effects of using nicotine in this way – we definitely know that tobacco is a lot worse than an e cigarette and should be hailed as a modern day miracle for smokers.

Here is a very interesting debate I found on the e cigarete at Digital Trends, I really found it interesting and you do as well.

Digital Trends’ staffers Amir Iliaifar and Andrew Couts argue over proper e-cigarette etiquette, and whether or not they should adhere to the same regulations as conventional smokes.

We all know smoking is bad for you – but what about electronic smoking? New technology means we now have electronic cigarettes, which eliminate many of the health risks of the real thing. Still, there are vapors from the devices that likely won’t harm others, but they might be annoying.

Staff writers Andrew Couts and Amir Iliaifar debate whether or not e-cigarettes should be allowed in public or if they should fall under the same regulations as the real deal.

question

Andrew

andrew-coutsAs with any new technology, it takes some time for the general public to get used to its existence. Such is the case with e-cigarettes, which are quickly becoming a popular way for people to quit smoking, or to keep “smoking” without the stink and tar that goes with tobacco cigarettes. Now, I have been “vaping,” as e-cigarette users call it, for a few months now, and I believe it is a vast improvement over the tobacco version. Not only do I feel better, but I’m far less offensive to the people around me. It is for this reason, and the fact that studies so far show that vaping is far less unhealthy to both the person doing it and the people around them than tobacco smoke, that I believe we should not apply the same limitations to vaping as we do to smoking cigarettes.

Should e-cigarettes be allowed in bars, restaurants, and planes? Absolutely. Why not? There is absolutely no evidence so far that the vapor from e-cigarettes causes any of the health problems associated with tobacco cigarettes. Plus, there is essentially no smell, and the vapor cloud evaporates almost immediately. In fact, if you want to be particularly polite, you can simply hold in the vapor longer and it almost entirely dissipates. In other words, all of the reasons to send smokers outside are rendered completely moot when applied to vapers. Just because the activity looks the same doesn’t mean it is.

Amir

Amir-IliaifarAndrew, Andrew, Andrew… I’m sorry to burst your bubble but you’re wrong, and there are two main things I take issue with in regards to your argument. First, while I agree that it can take time for the general public to become comfortable with “new technology” e-cigarettes are not the same thing as a tablet or smartphone. It may have taken time for people to adjust to texting or even using the internet, but there are no passive health risks to you if I whip out my iPhone while we’re sitting at a table. On the other hand, you whipping out an e-cigarette and “vaping” in front of me could have a negative impact on my health.

Second, while you state  there is no conclusive evidence on the ill effects of smoking e-cigarettes – a sentiment not surprisingly shared by the e-cigarette industry – a recent study conducted by members of the Center for Global Tobacco Control at the Harvard School of Public Health have shown that simply isn’t true. In fact, the study suggested that smoking e-cigarettes may actually have a far quicker negative impact on smokers, restricting their airways even faster than a conventional cigarette.

But hey, how about I give you the benefit of the doubt and say that studies are indeed inconclusive. Scientists, and even the FDA, argue that there needs to be sufficient long-term studies – which I agree, there should be. At the same time, because we don’t know how severe the effects may be, shouldn’t we just play it safe and exercise some common courtesy by adhering to the same etiquette applied to conventional smokers? I think so….More at DT Debates: Should e-cigarette smokers follow traditional tobacco etiquette?

Please go through to the main site and read the whole debate and please come back here and let me know what you thought and what you views are on this and if you think this is getting ridiculous already?!

How Do E Cigarettes Work?

E cigarettes consist of three basic parts, sometimes having the appearance of only two parts because two functions are combined into one.

.

Basically, e cigarettes operate with a battery which provides power for a tiny vaporizing unit called an atomizer, which heats up liquid containing nicotine and flavoring in a base agent. The liquid is stored in a cartridge, also called a cartomizer when it is built into the atomizer. The word “cartomizer” is a combination of “cartridge” and “atomizer,” which makes it easy to remember. So, e cigarettes are referred to as 3-piece or 2-piece, but all e cigarettes contain the three functional parts just described.  E cigarettes work when the battery activates the atomizer, which vaporizes the e liquid, which produces vapor that is drawn into the user’s mouth and inhaled into the lungs like tobacco smoke. It’s a simple process, really, but there’s a lot to learn about it because e cigarettes provide so many different options.

Components of E Cigarettes – Batteries

E cigarettes all require a battery in order to operate. Naturally, there are many different types of batteries available for e cigarettes, depending on the style, model and manufacturer of each particular unit. Disposable e cigarettes have small batteries, with just enough power to vaporize the e liquid provided. Disposable e cigarettes are not designed to be rechargeable or refillable, so the batteries they contain cannot be reused.

However, rechargeable electronic cigarettes are available with a variety of different types of batteries. Some batteries can be recharged 200 times, some 500 times, and some as many as 2000 times. Obviously, e cigarettes with better batteries will cost more. Normal AA and AAA used in other types of electronic equipment will not work in e cigarettes, partially because of battery size, but also because of voltage. Those household batteries are only 1.5 volts and most e cigarettes require 3.7 volts at a minimum. Furthermore, manufacturers of e cigarettes specify the use of Li-Ion rechargeable batteries or LiMn rechargeable batteries for best performance. Mini e cigarettes that look tobacco cigarettes often come with an LED light at the tip, giving the appearance of burning tobacco. Lights on the tips of e cigarettes are programmed to blink when battery power is running low, which gives the user a heads-up to recharge, a handy feature on the mini models of e cigarettes.

Components of E Cigarettes – Atomizers

Most e cigarettes come equipped with standard resistance atomizers in order to strike a balance between vapor production and atomizer life. Low resistance atomizers will produce more vapor at the expense of atomizer life, since higher heat production wears out the tiny unit faster.  Vapers who make a hobby of experimenting with different e cigarettes and even modifying e cigarettes for personal use eventually discover which type of atomizer they prefer.

Many former smokers are only interested in obtaining their nicotine fix with pleasure and style, so they don’t get really excited about exploring all the various options available in different models of e cigarettes.

One item of interest to all vapers, however, is how e liquid contributes to the life of atomizers. E liquids containing artificial sweeteners have a tendency to wear out atomizers much faster than those without sweeteners. Adding sweeteners to the typical propylene glycol base has been compared to putting sugar in the gas tank of a car. Not good… And at the very least, atomizers in frequently used e cigarettes will need cleaning more often to compensate.

Alcohol is recommended for cleaning atomizers, with ethyl alcohol preferred over isopropyl alcohol, although either one will do the job. The user drips alcohol into the atomizer while holding it over the sink to contain the dripping as the alcohol runs through the atomizer. Immediately thereafter, the user places a couple drops of e liquid directly into the atomizer, connects it to the battery unit and activates it, allowing any remaining alcohol to burn off.

E cigarettes should have the atomizer cleaned or replaced after approximately 3 to 5 mils of liquid have passed through the atomizer. In lieu of measurement, it’s relatively easy to know when it’s time to clean or replace because taste and vapor production quality suffer. In other words, it’s obvious.

Components of E Cigarettes – E Liquids

There are two main bases for the e liquid contained in e cigarettes. Cartridges and cartomizers can be purchased pre-filled, or the user can refill their own at home. Propylene glycol (PG) is a petroleum based liquid, and vegetable glycerin (VG) is manufactured from vegetable oil, usually palm or coconut oils. PG has a naturally bitter taste requiring flavorings as a cover-up, but VG has a naturally sweet taste and can be enjoyed without any additives. VG has a much thicker viscosity and so it requires another liquid, usually water, to reduce it. Remember, e cigarettes have no characteristic flavor of their own. Liquid tobacco or menthol flavoring is added, while many others flavors can be substituted instead of those two if e cigarettes are not being used to imitate the flavor of tobacco smoking.

Actually, many different oils can be vaporized in the atomizer of e cigarettes, but VG based liquids seem to work the best.

Additives are, essentially, impurities in the liquid, and as a result they tend to wear out the atomizer faster than pure oils. Liquid nicotine levels can be adjusted to achieve just the right “throat hit” for each individual.  E cigarettes so many options for flavor and nicotine levels that it generally takes a new user quite a while to find just the right combination. In the event some e liquid is drawn directly into a user’s mouth instead of vapor it’s easily rinsed out with water with no ill effects. E cigarettes contain a liquid consisting of food grade ingredients only, listed as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA.

John Stossel’s Opinion On Electronic Cigarettes

The Food and Drug Administration has issued new warning label requirements for tobacco cigarette packaging, according to veteran newscaster John Stossel.

Electronic Cigarettes

Nicotine For Electronic Cigarettes

.

Apparently the requirements will require scary color photos of diseased body parts and actual dead bodies. Although the FDA has the power to regulate electronic cigarettes as well, no such warning labels have been issued for packaging and print advertising for electronic cigarettes. And the FDA should certainly not be issuing any drastic warnings, because there’s no proof whatsoever that electronic cigarettes contain any of the over 4,000 toxic chemicals in tobacco smoke. In reality, there’s no comparison between tobacco cigarettes and electronic cigarettes. They just look similar.
In an article online, Stossel shared several quotes that underscore his personal opinion clearly. He wonders what could be wrong with electronic cigarettes that contain no tobacco, and produce only water vapor, no smoke at all. He is not alone in his thinking.

Stossel’s article quotes New York Times science columnist John Tierney with writing the following bit of common sense about trace amounts of chemicals found in the liquid used in electronic cigarettes: “The agency has never presented evidence that the trace amounts actually cause any harm, and it has neglected to mention that similar traces of these chemicals have been found in other FDA-approved products, including nicotine patches and gum.”  And another quote from professor Brad Rodu, of the University of Louisville, printed in the Harm Reduction Journal reminds readers that traces of chemicals found by the FDA in one study of electronic cigarettes were “…about 1 million times lower concentrations than are conceivably related to human health.”

What is the FDA Thinking About Electronic Cigarettes?

This is significant evidence that electronic cigarettes will surely grow in popularity as tobacco cigarettes suffer increased bad publicity due to the stiff new packaging requirements. Surely opponents of electronic cigarettes will begin to see the light. Yet another professor named Michael Siegel, of the Boston University School of Public Health is quoted as saying, “It boggles my mind why there is a bias against e-cigarettes among antismoking groups…” Users of electronic cigarettes as well as non-users have a hard time understanding why the FDA is not in favor of promoting electronic cigarettes as a smoking cessation device. At this time electronic cigarettes cannot be promoted for that purpose. Yet Stossel writes, “A new study from Italy found that after 24 weeks, half of all smokers using the e cigarettes reduced their consumption of the real McCoy by 50 percent. And a quarter gave up smoking altogether.”  That is a truly encouraging statistic, much more consistent with the experience of many former smokers, now happy users of electronic cigarettes posting on forums online.

Most encouraging of all, Stossel concludes, “The American Association of Public Health Physicians calculated that electronic cigarettes might ‘…save the lives of 4 million of the 8 million current adult American smokers.”

So, one of America’s top investigative reporters has spoken on the subject of the FDA and electronic cigarettes, and he has quoted other authorities who agree that electronic cigarettes should be allowed to have an important place in the future of nicotine delivery. While that phrase might not sound too romantic, it is, after all, the whole point of smoking tobacco cigarettes. And it is also the whole point of using electronic cigarettes for smokers who desire to reduce their consumption of tobacco while moving in the direction of eliminating tobacco entirely. It may be that the scientific community, the medical community and the enthusiastic community of vapers who all understand that it’s really all about nicotine delivery will eventually catapult electronic cigarettes into the conscious awareness of the general public and override the political pressures of special interest groups. The reality is that smokers who experiment with electronic cigarettes usually find themselves somewhat fascinated by the experience, and they continue to experiment with different styles, models and brands of electronic cigarettes until finding just the right one that suits their own tastes. Tobacco smokers all have individual preferences and smoking styles and the same can be said about users of electronic cigarettes. “Different smokes for different folks,” is a popular phrase that could be translated as “different vapes for different folks.” Once again, it’s all about personal preferences in the strength and also the flavor of nicotine delivery in a smokeless product.

Who Really Invented The Electronic Cigarette?

Stop Smoking With The Electronic Cigarette

.

Who really invented it? That’s a great question that can truthfully be answered, “Herbert A. Gilbert, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.” It’s totally surprising, but it’s true. An American engineer actually filed a patent for his “Smokeless Non-Tobacco Cigarette” in 1963, and the corresponding US Patent Number 3200819 was issued for it in 1965. So, what ever happened to Mr. Gilbert’s electronic cigarette? Reviewing the patent abstract and diagram, it’s clear to see that the time had not yet come for an electronic cigarette to capture enough popularity to succeed. Remember, in 1963 the dangers of tobacco smoke were not a concern to the general population of smokers. Deep research had not been conducted and governmental health agencies had not made pronouncements regarding the toxicity of over 4,000 chemicals and 42 known carcinogens in tobacco smoke in 1963. People would have had no interest in an electronic cigarette because they didn’t know their tobacco cigarettes were killing them. Not yet.

What Did Mr. Gilbert’s Electronic Cigarette Invention Include?

The electronic cigarette Mr. Gilbert patented was described, in his own words, in the following manner, “…object of the invention is to provide an article of manufacture resembling a cigarette by which air may be drawn through a porous substance of a cartridge which has been moistened with a chemically harmless flavoring preparation, combining moisture and taste following which the moist and flavored air passes through a section of the device heated by a suitable heating element so that warm, moist and flavored air is drawn into the mouth and if desired into the lungs of the user.” That is a perfect description of an electronic cigarette today, and it is fascinating to learn that such a similar electronic cigarette was designed and patented forty years before Ruyan’s 2003 electronic cigarette hit the world market, starting in China. Here are a few more prophetic words in Mr. Gilbert’s description of his electronic cigarette invention, “… a further object is to insulate the heat source so that the “cigarette” may be held in the fingers without discomfort to the user’s hand.”  Once again, that is a perfect description of any electronic cigarette on the market today, and one that could easily be used to draw a sensible conclusion by anyone unfamiliar with an electronic cigarette.

Was Mr. Gilbert’s Electronic Cigarette The Only One Patented In The US?

Perhaps more surprising than discovering that Mr. Gilbert patented an electronic cigarette in 1963 is the fact that over sixty other, similar US Patents have been issued since then. Electronic cigarette patent holders include, among others, major US tobacco companies and pharmaceutical companies.  The fact that a Chinese inventor actually brought the electronic cigarette into production and onto the world marketplace is particularly interesting. There is a huge population of cigarette smokers in China, and the resulting national health concerns may have brought Ruyan’s electronic cigarette more attention and support in China than the long list of inventions received in the US. Smokers all over the world are benefitting from the electronic cigarettes manufactured in China and shipped internationally, and there is a world-wide following that is growing in numbers and in strength. The electronic cigarette has changed the lives of countless tobacco smokers by providing a smokeless alternative to the dangers of tobacco smoke. Mr. Gilbert may not be reaping the benefits of his 1963 patent of an electronic cigarette, but he would undoubtedly be gratified to see that millions of former smokers who are now electronic cigarette users are deriving benefit and pleasure from his idea today.

What Is The Real Benefit Of An Electronic Cigarette?

The benefit of an electronic cigarette today is primarily two-fold.  First, consistent use of an electronic cigarette as a substitute for tobacco cigarettes is the best way to avoid toxic tobacco smoke, the basic source of carcinogens and bodily harm caused by tobacco. And second, an electronic cigarette provides great pleasure. That’s a basic fact of life for a former smoker, proven over and over by each tobacco smoker who picks up an electronic cigarette and gives it a try. Former smokers who get started using an electronic cigarette will almost always say that it’s a terrific idea and a great alternative to tobacco cigarettes. They can get their nicotine delivered through an electronic cigarette, and enjoy the oral and tactile experience, too. Nobody would say that about nicotine gum or nicotine patches. They are simply no fun at all. Back when Mr. Gilbert patented his electronic cigarette there were no nicotine gums or patches, and his invention would have been the only smoking alternative on the market. Today, an electronic cigarette has more competition, but it also provides plenty of options that Mr. Gilbert probably never even dreamed of in his original plans. For example, the huge selection of electronic cigarette flavorings available online today, from candied apple to Zanzibar coffee and literally thousands of others in between, would stun and amaze him, no doubt. The vast selection amazes most new electronic cigarette users as well. Mixing just the right strength of liquid nicotine with one or more exotic liquid e cigarette flavors gives electronic cigarette users options for enjoyment that are unlimited and unprecedented. Although it’s hard to believe that it took forty years to say that Mr. Gilbert’s patented “smokeless non-tobacco cigarette” is an idea whose time has come, the popularity of the electronic cigarette on the market today provides ample proof.

E Cigarettes Were Invented By Chinese Engineers

A look back at history shows that Chinese chemists invented gunpowder a long, long time ago, reportedly in the 9th century, so what about e cigarettes?

As it turns out, Chinese engineers, much more recently, invented the first e cigarettes as well. The first patent for e cigarettes was issued in 2003, so a smokeless alternative to tobacco cigarettes has only been on the market for a few years now.  In the beginning, e cigarettes were marketed as a device to stop smoking, but that claim was halted in 2008 when the World Health Organization announced that e cigarettes were not an authorized “smoking cessation device.” That phrase is a legal term and cannot be used without legal authority. So, manufacturers and users of e cigarettes must not make a claim that is, in point of fact, the truth. Vapers who have completely stopped smoking tobacco cigarettes make their opinions known everyday. Users of e cigarettes will not be silenced because they are very grateful to have a smokeless alternative to obtain nicotine and they sincerely desire to make e cigarettes more accessible and not restrict them in any way. People have a right to obtain e cigarettes to help them stop smoking.

E Cigarettes Are Primarily Manufactured In China

Anyone can determine from a brief search on the web that the vast majority of e cigarettes today are manufactured in China. The industry started and proliferated in China, although e cigarettes are now shipped and sold all over the world. There is a huge population of tobacco smokers in China and e cigarettes were so successful as an aid to stop smoking for so many Chinese smokers that it became obvious to smokers everywhere that use of e cigarettes as a nicotine delivery system works well.

Despite the legal terminology and the social and political ramifications, and despite the strong opinions of non-smokers participating in drafting legislation at all levels of government, the fact remains that tobacco smokers are successfully dropping their noxious tobacco habit by using e cigarettes imported from China.

People all over the world are escaping the dangers of tobacco smoke when they choose e cigarettes instead.

Quit Smoking With The Electronic Cigarette This New Year

Electronic cigarette smoke free new yearNew Year’s Eve is just a day or so away and this is the time that many of us make our New Year’s resolutions. People make all sorts of promises at this time of year. They make plans to save money, eat less, exercise more or spend quality time with their family. If you are a smoker, why not make a resolution that means better health and quite possibly a longer life. It is time to make a New Year’s resolution to quit smoking tobacco.

As many of us know, most New Year’s resolutions get broken or forgotten in a very short time. However, when it comes to quitting smoking, most of us fail because smoking is a highly addictive habit and it is extremely hard to quit. Many smokers have tried to quit over and over and have met with failure every time. It isn’t that smokers are a stubborn bunch of crazies who like to engage in activities that they know are really bad for them. Smokers are hooked on one of the world’s most addictive substances known as nicotine.

Smokers are facing an uphill battle.

They are addicted to a potent chemical and many have engaged in years of patterned behavior that re-enforces their smoking habit. The very act of lighting a cigarette and holding it is reassuring to smokers. The ritual of holding a cigarette in one’s lips and inhaling becomes deeply ingrained in a smokers sub-conscious. Anyone who wants to quit smoking has their work cut out for them and they are facing tremendous odds of failure.

Well, there is some good news to this story and that is a recent invention called the Electronic Cigarette. This incredible new device allows smokers to stop using tobacco and still get the nicotine they need to prevent withdrawal symptoms. By allowing smokers to get a measured dose of nicotine with every drag, one is able to give up tobacco cigarettes without going through weeks of lingering cravings. Since with the electronic cigarette nothing is burned or ignited, the smoker is not inhaling all the cancer causing, harmful chemicals that are created when you burn tobacco.

Stop smoking 2012The electronic cigarette is made up of a two part tube that looks just like a real cigarette, but without tobacco and the risks of smoking.

The larger section is a metal tube that corresponds to the part of a cigarette that contains the tobacco. This section encloses a battery and a heating element that vaporizes the nicotine solution. The second part of the electronic cigarette corresponds to the filter of a cigarette and it holds the all important nicotine cartridge.

When a smoker uses an electronic cigarette, they inhale just like they would a real cigarette. The battery powered heating element converts a small amount of the nicotine solution into a vapor that simulates the smoke of a regular cigarette. The smoker is not only able to inhale the vapor as if they were really smoking but they get approximately the same amount of nicotine with each drag as they would from a tobacco cigarette. Each replaceable nicotine cartridge is equal to about one pack of cigarettes and when it runs out, you simply unscrew the filter section and put in a new nicotine cartridge.

An added benefit of the electronic cigarette is that you can enjoy it in many of the places where tobacco smoking is banned.

You can use your electronic cigarette after an enjoyable meal in a fancy restaurant or while you casually stroll through the mall. If you happen to live in a city that even bans smoking in bars, you wont be forced to stand out in the rain on the sidewalk to enjoy a smoke. If your community has really gone over the edge and banned smoking in apartment buildings and private offices, then you can just use your e cigarette and enjoy yourself without any inconvenience. You can even use the electronic cigarette as a replacement for tobacco in areas where smoking is banned and enjoy real tobacco when you are in areas where smoking is permitted. Although quitting smoking is the healthier option, the choice is yours.
